The general in charge of the Maya Train, Óscar David Lozano Águila, affirmed that they will “fulfill the mission” to inaugurate the project on December 15.
During President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s morning conference on Monday, November 27, at the National Palace, General Águila highlighted the progress of work in section 3: “We practically have the track completed, the 159 kilometers of track, of which 60 correspond to double electrified track.”
Before López Obrador, General Lozano Águila emphasized the railway infrastructure and complementary works. “We will have everything necessary in terms of workshops, in terms of requirements, for the Train to be operational by December 15, 2023.”
“We reaffirm our commitment, we will start operations on December 15 in the section from Campeche to Cancun. We hope that with this, we can visit all these beautiful areas in the Yucatan and Campeche regions, which surely many people will be interested in visiting.”
“We confirm the ticket sales, which will begin on December 1 as announced, as instructed by the president, and unless orders to the contrary are given, we will fulfill the mission, Mr. President,” he said.
